Venus enters Cancer on July 31 this month! Venus is the plant of love, creativity, and pleasure, and Cancer is the sign of deep emotions, of motherly love, and of “home” — this is a placement with lots of love to give! The tarot cards that correspond to Venus and Cancer are III – The Empress and VII – The Chariot. Look at these two! Both are looking the viewer directly in the eyes, with their bodies slightly oriented towards the future. The Empress is crowned by a spray of wheat, the Charioteer a star-spangled curtain and orange clouds of creative ambition: Venus in Cancer means relaxing into new ideas, letting love quell any lingering fears, deciding to let hope take the reins and guide you! Looking at all these pink/blue pairs, it appears that Venus in Cancer will be all about looking at the “two sides” of yourself, and turning to your closest support systems — siblings, parents, pets, and of course, partners — to find the beauty in these differences, to see them as uniquenesses. Allow yourself to relax and have fun with your favourite people, getting back to “you” before the Fall rolls around and we’re back to work and school, with new projects and responsibilities to take us away from being able to go as “deep” as we can now. No, it goes without saying, nothing compares to these sweaty, sticky, deliciously muggy days of high summer, when all you can do is flop down and relax! Yes, love is in the air, love of just about every kind — in such a way that it’s clearer than ever what you don’t need in your life as well! This is the perfect time to focus on the people who make you feel strong, who would do anything for you no matter what, and also to forgive and let go of the people who you know only hold you back. the divide is clear: who can you just “be” with, without the need for any extra effort? This month, Uranus in Aries forms a semi-sextile with Chiron (retrograde) in Pisces on July 29. Uranus is the planet of innovation and fresh thinking, and Chiron is an asteroid that represents the pains that we must learn to live with in life: our unhealable wounds, those which are best soothed with spirituality and self-understanding. Chiron in deep, sensitive Pisces is a great place to do that kind of work, especially with Uranus in motivated, action-oriented Aries! A semi-sextile is formed when planets form a 30′ angle to each other, and is considered a very minor aspect — it’s like the half-way point to being presented with an opportunity! Uranus semi-sextile Chiron represents recognizing where real action can be taken in order to heal the “wounds” that are the last bits holding you back from realizing your full potential in some area of your life. The numerology of this aspect, which occurs at 28’31 in both signs, suggests achieving a work/life balance that allows a new creative project to take off will be the opportunity to come when Uranus and Chiron form a sextile. Mercury enters its “home” sign of Virgo on July 25! Mercury is the planet of communication, quick thinking, and movement, and in earthy Virgo, we’re provided the chance to solidify plans that we’ve been thinking on and organizing all year long. Mercury’s time in Virgo may get complicated, as it goes retrograde August 12, then slips back into Leo as its retrograde progresses on August 31, finally going direct again September 5 and re-entering Virgo September 9. Phew! It looks like we’ll be dealing with a lot of reoccurring themes — I’m hearing the line “it’s a repeat” from the song “Throw Away Your Television” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. We have a lunar and solar eclipse coming up too, reinforcing the fact that we’ll be working through “past” stuff in the weeks to come — make the best of it and keep in mind that you’ve worked hard for your happy present, and nothing can take it away from you if you! Oracle Cards: Mercury + Autumn – Harvest and sow reversed

The Astrological Oracle was one of my first decks, along with Tarot Mucha, and it loves to play with me! I laughed out loud when it gave me “Mercury” in a reading about Mercury in Virgo energies. Haha! But look at the orange through both cards: it’s not time to be “finished” with the ambitious creative work you’re in the midst of — there is much work still to be done. That’s appropriate, though, as Summer is far from over: imagine what your current line of thinking will have drawn to you by the time Autumn is here!

Yes, you wish you were a little further along in all the good things that are going on around you — but it’s pretty hard to maintain a frown amongst it all as well! The 4 of Wands is one of a few “irreversible” cards in the tarot deck — it’s shining energy promises good things to come, if they aren’t here already. You’re doing “good,” and all you need to do now is keep making connections, knowing both that you’re in control, but also that you’ve put the power into other people’s hands for now, and can trust that they will make you proud. Remain buoyant even as your mind races with excitement at all the new possibilities on the horizon — things are very much in the process of coming together. Do what you can to enjoy the fun and opportunity to relax while it lasts!

The energy of the New Moon this past Sunday has you all fired up and ready to jump into action. I’m loving how direct the oracle cards messages have been lately! 1. What new start can you make in order to truly shine in your work? 2 of Cups: know that you are truly loved by the people in your life, and that they believe in what you’re doing — trust that and let love’s warmth propel you forward! What you’ve started has the potential to sweep you away like an old-time movie, and all you have to do it allow it!

What intention will provide you the best structure in order to succeed in your goals? IX – The Hermit: knowing you have the support you need, prepare to really take the time you need “away” to develop what you’ve recently started, trusting that it will not threaten your personal relationships. Virgo Season (Aug 22 on) will be busy with people being drawn to the light you’re preparing to share!

The Sun enters Leo on July 22 this month (staying there until it moves into Virgo August 22), which finds it in its power placement — and we all feel the positive effects! Looking at the corresponding tarot cards, XIX – The Sun and VIII – Strength, we find a scene of brightness, warmth, and togetherness, with opposites coming together to share ideas in a way that finds everyone comfortable, at ease, prepared to lay everything bare and take a leap of faith — one that will have results that may have once felt unbelieveable, but now are coaxed smoothly into the light of day! This Leo Season, show your true colours with pride: your tribe is waiting for you, and you have everything you need to succeed. All that needed to be revealed has been, so you can feel certain that you know what you’re working with: allow yourself to relax and trust that you have the inner strength you need to succeed as well!

Oracle Cards: Aquamarine | Communication + Opportunity

This reading has a definite theme of “not letting emotion get in the way of opportunity.” Things ahve settled down a lot, due in large part to you being clearer with what you need, especially in your home life and personal relationships. Things are going so well that all it will take to improve even more is consistent reflection on how far you’ve come from out of the shadows that threatened to take over not long ago! Keep things positive, knowing that everything you want is within your reach and not letting even the shade of a doubt to enter the picture. Well, they’re here, and now all you have to do is live them and enjoy!

How can you best maintain your energy without getting lazy? II – The High Priestess: You know how you got to the place you are now, and you know what not to do in order to maintain your current state of balance. This month, Mars enters Leo on July 20! Mars is the fiery planet of passion and of fighting spirit, and Leo is the sign of pride and warmth. Combined, these energies create an environment of massive achievement, the type that leaves the old way of doing things behind in favour of shining new opportunities. This is combined with heaping doses of the type of self-understanding that finds others opening unexpected doors for you, as your personal magnetism attracts what’s good for you and repels what’s not, in one way or another! Mars in Leo makes your personal darkness unbearable, in such a way that all you can do is avoid it and seek what and who you do like to be around, all for your own betterment overall, as there’ll be no time for laziness once it’s time to rebuild those old structures that are about to get shaken up!

Each reading involves three decks (2 oracle and 1 tarot), and focuses on how you personally can best make use of the planetary energies that affect us all. For this reading I chose the Isis Oracle and Crystal Reading Cards, the first because the Thoth Tarot has lots of Ancient Egyptian symbolism and the second for its bright colours to enhance the Thoth’s. Both oracle decks were happy to be included, as each produced a jumper card during shuffling!

Yes, it looks like Mars’s time in Leo — it enters Virgo September 5 — will ultimately be a time of regaining your balance and more fully realizing your own potential. I gasped when I turned over The Sun card, because the Sun is Leo’s power planet: looking back at the cards for Mars and Leo, it looks like The Sun is shining on Strength this month! Anything that’s destroyed is part of a greater purification process, as your life visibly starts to come together and what’s left to be worked on is clearer than ever too. In realizing what you can do right now, you open yourself to receiving the team that will help you grow even more, drawn to you by the sheer sparkle of your own flame when you’re lit up by doing what you truly love. Major shifts are occurring, but it’s safe to allow change, as we’re all doing the same sort of inner work right now. What’s meant to fall away will, leaving you lighter and freer to fly on and come that much closer to realizing the next part of your destiny — the next step on the path is about to become crystal clear!

You’re ready to build something great, in large part because you stayed where you were needed for as long as you could. Happy Monday! How did the end of last week find you? There was a burst of clarity at the end of the week that allowed us to see things as they really are, which brings us to the Here and Now! The theme card for this week is the 4 of Pentacles reversed, suggesting that we may still be feeling the sting of getting taken down a few pegs earlier last week, but getting back into the realm of feeling like we know how to “hold it all together.” This week, asking for help will continue to be important, as there’s tons of “connecting” energy surrounding! If you feel like you’ve lost your grip, use that empty hand to reach for the comforting hand of another: we’re all in this together, and this week it’s important to remember that the support you need is there for you.

Monday, June 19: 6 of Wands reversed

Yes, you’re getting there — can you feel it? Conflict-y energy is still lingering, but you’re seeing glimmers of recognition for the battles you fight so valiantly every single day. Keep your head up, even when your interpersonal balance feels laughably precarious: just the fact that you’re trying to keep your frustration in check is such a huge difference from the way you used to approach your problems. You are doing so well, and taking the time to examine your responses is building you up into a better leader than you ever thought you could be. Slowly but surely, you’re coming into your own — recognize your own progress and focus on the fact that you’ve made it through the hardest part of the struggle!

Tuesday, June 20: 7 of Pentacles

Today you’re up and bopping, motivated from yesterday to get back to work on those minor details that you know will keep you from making excuses. When you think, “I can’t do that now — I have to do this first,” well, what a perfect time to do “this” so that you can do “that”! Getting down and dirty with the manageable tasks that keep things rolling will in turn help to solidify the grounding that allows us to build newer, better things for ourselves — but only once what we already have is in manageable order! This day is all about persevering where you know it will pay off later. You’re doing it!

Wednesday, June 21: XV – The Devil reversed

Today, things really heat up, in such a way that you’re forced to look at the “addictive” patterns that hold you in the fire. An opportunity is presented where it feels like you found an open door when you thought you were locked in: something happens that makes you realize your actual power over this situation, in turn showing you the steps you need to take to get back to a place of calmness, coolness, collectedness. Today may find you feeling “laid bare” more than ever, but in such a way that it’s impossible to ignore what you’ve been trying to cover up in favour of taking the easier route, the one that felt smoother but has also been eating away at your outer layers, trying to get to your heart — the one place where you’re still able to hear the softer voice of your inner guidance, over the loud voice of the ego which will scream even louder once you set out towards those more peaceful pastures. The fact is, you’ve already been headed in this new direction for long enough that there’s really no turning back! You’re free, and it’s up to you to start beating your wings and take flight.

 

Thursday, June 22: 10 of Wands

Yesterday’s push leaves you feeling exhausted, but with a distinct sense of completion, and of being closer to reaching your goals than you’ve felt in a while. Now it’s a matter of finding a way to get everything done differently: of rearranging your load so that it’s more manageable, which may have to include some delegation in order to get everything done. Today represents a “hard part” where reality is so clear that it’s hard to look at, but you’re so close that you can’t give up now! The end of the week finds us comfortable with a truth that was revealed this week: whether you came clean about something you’d been keeping from another, whether someone revealed new information to you, or you just finally admitted something to yourself, this was an important step, and it opened you up to begin the healing process. Even if things still feel tangly, the hard parts are starting to fall away, and you have a better grip than ever on what you need to do to honour the most important truth of all: Your Own. You’re growing, and you are more connected than ever to understanding your own patterns, knowing better what to do the next time they try to repeat themselves!

This week, the advice from our Higher Selves is the 8 of Pentacles: when you can, turn your back on everything else and focus on what you know you’re good at, what you truly love to do. Nothing can take this skill away from you, and using it is of great benefit to you. If you feel like getting away from everything this week, know that you have your work to focus on, and that for now it can be a totally welcome distraction. In this case, it’s one that will keep you in the real world even when you feel like you want to escape! You are a powerhouse and while you are dealing with huge, difficult themes, you are also making perfect progress in starting to chisel out something even better moving forward.

This week provides huge opportunity to “brighten your inner light,” to come to deep, soulful understanding of our own selves and our part in this often very confusing Universe. While you may be tempted to close off, keep in mind that there are people who need you very much, and who always benefit greatly from your unique perspective. Remember that you’re getting closer to achieving your dreams than you have ever been before! While you may feel frustrated at not being able to act as quickly on your new lines of thinking as you may like, at least you know now what’s keeping you from being recognized for all you do. Happy Monday everyone! Here we are, at the middle of June! How are you feeling? Last week was a bit of a topsy-turvy mashup of feeling good, then okay, then awful, then awesome, then the same over again — I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted! I’m even posting this a bit late because it required a huge kick in the butt after I let my mind wander into “maybe I’ll skip this week…” territory. That’s something we’ll all have to watch for this week, as represented by our theme card of the King of Cups reversed! Neptune goes retrograde this week, so there may be a sense of being plunged even deeper into emotional currents: keep swimming, and know that the benefit to be had is a much closer connection with your intuition, and in turn “inner answers” will be easier to access. Be aware of “coming up for air” when you need to, and remember the most important part of the swimming lessons you took when you were a kid: take a deep breath and float!!

Monday, June 12: XIX – The Sun reversed

Today finds you inching closer to the truth that can set you free! You’re still kind of trapped in your own head, but some little cue — a dream, a conversation, a sign — has you knowing the next direction you want to take, and nothing can take this newfound clarity from you. There’s still some digging to do to help that line of thought feel less “crowded out,” and some downtime today may be just what the doctor ordered to shine some sweet relief on the fears and anxieties that have been seeping in the cracks when your mind is left to wander into darker, less comfortable territory. Trust in your ability to see in a new light: you’ll soon find that it’s been glowing from within this whole time! Open up and allow yourself to be surrounded by love and support, and that any walls that seem to be holding you back have a gate somewhere along the way: keep looking!

Yesterday’s advice made it sound so easy, huh? Well, we both know it’s not, and today finds you seeking downtime to process everything that’s happening. You know the worst is over, and you know it’s okay to give yourself permission to rest! Reflecting is the best thing you can do today, as there is a distinct heart-healing energy surrounding. These things always take time, so just be still with yourself and know that’s what any other involved parties need to do as well. Should your paths cross, know that it’s the perfect opportunity to speak a healing balm onto the situation! The perfect words will come, and the issue will be able to be put to rest for the better. Be gentle, stay calm, and look forward to the not-too-distant future when all of this will be but a memory!

Wednesday, June 14: 8 of Cups reversed

Okay, today you may feel so freakin’ overwhelmed that your sole urge is to run for the hills: don’t. Really. Now is not the time. You do not have all the information you need to make a productive decision, and you may even be too upset to think clearly at the moment. Yesterday was a nap-day, and if you can afford it, today probably is too. If you’re too worked up to rest, try laying out all your options and gauging your emotional response to each! It’s still not time to make a decision, really really it’s not, so today do your best to accept your “state of scatter” and hang in there knowing the change you want will happen when the time is right. Probably best not to “overflow” onto others today either: today’s a right sea of emotion for everybody, so take comfort in knowing we’re all just doing our best to keep our own boats afloat at the moment.

Thursday, June 15: Queen of Swords reversed

Pickles!! Is this week ever going to relent? Well, today you have a hand in it: something makes you rethink part of the direction you followed last week, and you turn around, invigorated to take action! This is admittedly a bit of a selfish decision, perhaps even readable as “harsh,” but hoooly, you need to dig out of the rockpile you feel you’ve been buried under somehow!! The answers you need are coming through again, and you can see the changes in your own patterns taking effect. Now it’s only a matter of staying true to your course, anticipating yourself championing any challenges that lie ahead!

Today, reinforced from yesterday’s revelations, something touches a nerve that awakens a whole field of guilt-responses. However, you have an eye on yourself, and you stop the inner onslaught right in its track! Goodness, choosing and committing to your own future stability can be emotionally depleting. It sure forces you to zoom back in to where you are *right now,* which may not be the prettiest picture — it certainly looks nothing like the passion-dreams you realized for yourself over the past few days! If you need to grieve your present, by all means, drop to your knees and WAIL! Get it out there, then stand up, remember your goals, and get help. It’s waiting for you just as it always has been! You’re better equipped now with the knowledge of what materials you need to launch you forward, up from this rock-bottom sensation. Go, go, go! Get it!

Another rollercoaster week, but this time we’re dealing with more constructive themes. Our Higher Self card is the King of Pentacles, reminding us to trust that we’re more stable, more grounded than we may feel. This week may have more “downs” than it does “ups,” but these are all mysterious building blocks that are solidifying you, building you up for the great things on their way to you. By the time they arrive, you’ll hardly remember feeling like you wouldn’t make it. Slam the door on your own self-doubt! Things are far more balanced than they feel this week. Take the time you need to rest your mind when you get overwhelmed, but when you know what you need to do, do it! This will be an emotional week, so be gentle on yourself when you feel the tears coming or the anger rising. Let it pass, and try not to let it affect the people you love. You may entertain the thought that “things will never get better!!” but come on, you know that’s not true! Great healing is happening this week. You are out of Phase One, and you’re much closer to your goal than it feels!

This past week felt like a big old test, and I hope you came through it feeling like you “passed!” You did, with flying colours, and now you’re as prepared as can be for the week ahead: there are reoccurring themes, some coming in different ways, others feeling like exactly the same thing over again — either way, last week you heard your inner truth loud and clear, and this week you’re holding on to it, learning to use it as a force for good, and as a shield for yourself and your loved ones. Breaking free from old patterns is never easy, and it has to be a conscious choice in order to stick — nothing is as painful as opening up old wounds, but sometimes that’s what’s necessary in order to truly heal! Let the tears flow as they will today, as you come through yesterday’s funk to more storm clouds — whether they’re literal or more of the figurative type, this is a storm that bears a difficult lesson, albeit one that will help you look creatively at your next best direction.

Uh oh, Friday finds you still “learning the same lessons” as yesterday — although it may feel more like falling on the same swords! Know that today you have a better grip on things than you did yesterday, and baby steps are the key to finding your way through this particular wilderness. Waking up on Saturday, it almost feels like the past several days never happened: the clouds have dissipated, the sun is shining, it’s warm and bright and you’re surrounded by people who make you feel good. You feel emotionally released at last: gone is the self-conscious pall of the past week, replaced with joyful abandon and a sense of celebration and fun. Thank goodness! This new tone is a needed transformation, and should be properly savoured!

Don’t be discouraged if you can’t act on any new developments you come up with — keep track of those ideas to tend to when they can be made better use of. The Higher Self card for this week is the Knight of Swords, reminding you that come what may this week, keep your ultimate goals in mind. Nothing can stop you from getting what you want! No matter what challenges try to throw you off course, you are fueled by the thought of achieving your passion, and you’re receiving new inspiration all the time. You may not feel quite as “in control” as you’d like, but that’s just because you’ve been assigned bigger spiritual challenges as a result of the massive spiritual growth spurt you’ve had recently. You’ve got this, and remember to see any perceived setbacks as the next rounds of “tests” — you’ve aced every one so far, no need to fear another!

Maintain as calm a perspective as you can this week: the middle of the week may feel like a bit of a vortex, pulling you in like nasty quicksand! Trust that it will end as soon as it began, and that you have the strength to tend to yourself as needed, just as you’ve always done before. In fact, this week’s tougher lessons are old ones, ones which need to be thought through but which can be thought of as trivial compared to what is real and good about your life as a whole. Can anyone else believe it’s almost June?! May flew by, but this past week has been a flurry of activity, as inspiration struck and we all began thinking about what’s next and what to start doing to get to where we want to be. This week’s theme card is XIV – Temperance reversed, suggesting that we’ll have to swim hard to keep our heads above water, as something we thought we’d finished with will rear its head again and need to be addressed before we’re able to fully enjoy the place of calm we had a taste of last week, and which we’ll fully be able to feel again before this week is through! Even when it’s hard, keep giving of yourself, trying your hardest to understand where the people you interact with are coming from. In doing so, there’s a good chance they’ll return the kindness, or at the very least be inspired to pass it on somewhere else down the line. Focus on the good things to come, grasping any threads of positivity you can find, as the middle of the week will require a considerable amount of energy to stay afloat, but you can do it — the feeling this past week that you were “charging up” for something was right on, and you’re ready for whatever comes your way!

Monday, May 29: 9 of Wands

Yes, you’ve come through some trying times, but as a result you’ve been able to build up some really great defenses for the future! That is to say, you have a much better sense of how to protect what is important to you, be that people, ideas, a project or business — whatever it is, it’s dear to you and it’s always on your mind. It inspires you to create miracles, and this Monday finds you thinking hard about what you can do next to really feel like everything is “in place” in that department — you know what’s holding you back from feeling truly secure here, and today will benefit from a pause to reflect and make some decisions that will allow you to take on more work in this arena when it comes, and it’s coming soon!

Tuesday, May 30: XVII – The Star

That reflecting you did yesterday leads to something being illuminated today that fills you with hope, and the knowledge that the help you need is within reach. You’re filled with a divine Knowing that everything is going to be okay: remember this feeling, savour it, and think back to it as a fuelling memory when things “get darker before the dawn,” if you know what I mean! Finding light in the darkness usually comes with a bit of a stumble as our eyes adjust after being blinded momentarily with inspiration. When you’re struck with creativity today, make the most of it, and know that this is an idea that will take you far in the weeks to come!

Wednesday, May 31: 10 of Pentacles reversed

Here comes the “stumble” referred to after being greeted by The Star! I’m feeling that today a family interaction will lead to a bit of backtracking, as something throws you off a bit. Your best bet will be to retreat peacefully and recenter on your own, surrounding yourself with things that make you happy and doing some more of the recharging that helped so much last week. This isn’t the end of the story when it comes to whoever throws you off (or the person who retreats, if it’s you doing the “throwing!”), so whatever comes up, lay low for awhile and focus on self-care. Remember that things are feeling much more stable than they have in what feels like ages, and that won’t be changed by one little flip-flop!

Thursday, June 1: 7 of Cups

Today may find you feeling a bit lost in the clouds! All that’s been happening is swirling in your mind, along with all the possibilities you’ve been dreaming up, along with all that other people have been presenting you with — are you saying “make it stop?!” If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that you still have lots of time to smooth things out in order to achieve your desired results: you don’t have to choose right now! Allow the thoughts coursing through your mind to flow as they will, noticing them, seeing them, but not letting them knock you down. Hang in there, when the time comes, you will make the right choice!

Friday, June 2: 5 of Cups

Oops, did all that thinking yesterday land you focusing on what you’ve been working at letting go of? That’s okay, but remember not to dwell on it — new opportunities to move forward are doubling, and you’ll need your hands free to grasp them when they pop up. If you find yourself needing to duvet-away today, do, but again, let it be an act of self-care: decide that you’re doing it to feel better, not to wallow in your own past mistakes. Don’t keep your head covered for too long! You’re far away from the root of those old troubles, so take the time you need and get ready — tomorrow will truly feel like a New Day!

Saturday is finally here, and when you wake up, everything will feel glistening and like it’s back where it’s supposed to be. You’re feeling back in control, ready to make new connections and start working again at actively building the future you know you want. This week, our Higher Selves throw us a challenge: an old pattern that we’d been battling and thought we’d beaten returns. This week will be rife with opportunities to examine our personal structures: where we feel we have authority, how we use our power and energy, what works for us, why, and with who. When we feel ourselves starting to lose our cool, that’s when we most need to call in the reserves of hope we remembered to savour so deeply when they were happening! Trust in the strong foundations you’ve been solidifying lately to hold through any storms this week, knowing that by the end of it you’ll be feeling warm, proud, and connected. You’re creating amazing things, so keep thinking and acting from your true heart and trust that the best is coming to you — it really is!!
